Construction site security
Protecting your site, assets and programme — around the clock. A construction site can hold hundreds of thousands of pounds of plant, materials and equipment, and it is most vulnerable exactly when nobody is working. We provide professional, SIA licensed security that deters intrusion and keeps your site under control 24 hours a day.
Protect the site. Protect the programme.
Tool and plant theft, cable and copper stripping, trespass, vandalism, fly-tipping, people wandering into dangerous areas out of hours — construction sites attract all of it, and every incident costs more than the thing that was taken.
The real cost of a breach
01An incident never just costs the equipment
A break-in does not simply mean replacing stolen tools. It means plant standing idle, contractors who cannot work, damaged infrastructure, missed milestones and management time spent on recovery instead of the build. The theft is the start of the cost, not the end of it.
The response
02Prevent incidents before they reach the programme
A visible, professional security presence changes the calculation for anyone watching your site. Luxe officers deter intrusion, control who comes through the gate, patrol the points that matter and escalate early — so problems are dealt with before they become delays.
Construction security built around your site
Eight core capabilities, combined and scaled to match the site, the phase of works and the risks that actually apply.
Manned Guarding
SIA licensed security officers deployed to your site as a visible deterrent — positioned where the risk actually is, briefed on your layout, and able to respond quickly to suspicious activity or incidents.
Gatehouse & Access Control
Officers manage the movement of personnel, contractors, visitors and vehicles at the site entrance — sign-in, identification checks, delivery verification and out-of-hours access, run to your site procedures.
Mobile & Foot Patrols
Scheduled and varied patrols of the perimeter, compounds, buildings and welfare areas — patterned so they cover the vulnerable points without becoming predictable.
Plant, Equipment & Material Protection
Security focused on what thieves actually target: plant, machinery, tools, cable, copper, fuel and material storage compounds — the assets whose loss stops a site working.
Out-of-Hours Security
Overnight, weekend and holiday-period cover for the hours when a site is emptiest and most exposed — the window in which most construction theft happens.
Perimeter & Boundary Monitoring
Regular inspection of fencing, hoarding, gates and known weak points, so breaches and attempted entries are found and reported early — not discovered on Monday morning.
Delivery & Vehicle Control
Controlled access for authorised vehicles and deliveries in line with agreed site procedures, keeping gates secure without slowing the programme down.
Incident Response & Reporting
Clear escalation procedures agreed with site management before deployment. Incidents are documented and communicated to your nominated contacts — never left as word of mouth.
Security when your site needs it
Cover is configured around the actual operating hours and risks of the site — not sold as a fixed block of hours you may not need.
Why this matters
A site approaching completion has very different security risks from the same development during demolition, groundwork or structural construction. Our arrangements evolve alongside the project — scaling up through vulnerable phases and back down when the risk reduces.
- Overnight guarding
- Weekend guarding
- 24-hour guarding
- Temporary security cover
- Short-term project security
- Long-term site contracts
- Extra cover for vulnerable phases
- Emergency cover where possible
Know who is on your site
A controlled construction site starts at the entrance. Officers support your site management by making sure the people and vehicles coming through the gate are authorised — and that there is a record of it.
Access duties are agreed with site management and written into the assignment instructions. Security officers support your site procedures — they do not replace site management, health and safety personnel or statutory construction responsibilities.
- Monitoring entrances and exits
- Checking identification
- Maintaining visitor records
- Recording contractors in and out
- Managing authorised out-of-hours access
- Monitoring delivery vehicles
- Challenging unauthorised access appropriately
- Escalating suspicious behaviour
More than someone standing at the gate
Effective construction security actively monitors the site. Patrol routes are built from your layout and identified risks, and everything found is escalated in line with the agreed site security procedure.
What patrols cover
- Perimeter fencing and hoarding
- Gates and vulnerable access points
- Storage areas and plant compounds
- Welfare facilities and temporary buildings
- Vacant structures
- Fuel storage areas
- High-value material storage
- Fire points, where agreed
What officers look for
- Damaged fencing
- Open or forced gates
- Evidence of attempted entry
- Water leaks
- Suspicious vehicles
- Unsecured equipment
- Signs of vandalism
- Unusual activity around the boundary
Accountability built into every assignment
Good security is not simply someone being physically present. If something happens on your site, you should be able to understand what happened, when it happened and what action was taken.
Maintained subject to the agreed contract and operating procedures — giving site management visibility, not paperwork for its own sake
Every construction site is different
We don't take a one-size-fits-all approach. Before a substantial assignment begins, the arrangement is built from the site itself — size, layout, entrances, operating hours, local environment, previous incidents, asset value, phase of works and existing CCTV or access control.
Assess
We walk the site with you — layout, entrances, operating hours, what is stored where, and where previous incidents or obvious vulnerabilities sit.
Plan
Officer deployment, responsibilities, patrol requirements, escalation procedures and reporting are agreed and written into site-specific assignment instructions.
Protect
Professional security personnel deploy against those instructions — not generic guarding orders — with management oversight behind every assignment.
Review
As the development moves through demolition, groundwork, structure and fit-out, its risk profile changes. The security provision is reviewed and adapted with it.
Security for construction projects of every scale
From a single vacant plot awaiting works to phased commercial developments — the same disciplined approach, scaled to the project.
Why choose Luxe Security Group?
A construction site is a working environment, a storage yard and a public-facing boundary all at once. We deploy people and procedures suited to all three.
SIA-Licensed Personnel
Personnel deployed into licensable security roles hold the appropriate SIA licence for the duties they perform — verified before deployment, not assumed.
Site-Specific Assignment Instructions
Officers work to written instructions built around your site — its entrances, compounds, procedures and escalation contacts — not a generic guarding template.
Clear Escalation Procedures
You decide who is contacted, about what, and when. Officers escalate to your nominated contacts in accordance with the agreed procedure.
Professional Appearance
On your site, our officers represent your project to every contractor, visitor and neighbour. Presentation, communication and conduct are fundamental, not optional.
Flexible Deployment
Cover scales up for vulnerable phases and scales back when the risk reduces — the arrangement follows the project, not the other way round.
Detailed Reporting
Occurrence records, patrol records and incident reports give site management visibility of what actually happens on site outside working hours.
The cost of security vs. the cost of an incident
The financial impact of a breach extends far beyond the value of what was stolen. One incident can put all of this on the project ledger at once:
Effective security is not simply an overhead. It is part of protecting the continuity of the project.

Frequently asked questions
Common questions about our construction site security service.
Can you provide 24-hour construction site security?
Yes. Guarding arrangements are built around the requirements of the project — overnight cover, weekend cover, or continuous 24-hour guarding where the site or its contents justify it. Many sites combine daytime gatehouse duties with dedicated out-of-hours protection.
Are your construction security guards SIA licensed?
Personnel carrying out licensable security activities are required to hold the appropriate SIA licence, and we verify licences before deployment. Licence status is also re-checked on an ongoing basis as part of our compliance process.
Can you provide temporary construction site security?
Yes. Security is often needed for a specific phase, a temporary vulnerability — such as plant arriving before secure storage exists — or a short gap between contractors. We provide short-term cover as well as longer-term site contracts.
Can guards control access to our construction site?
Yes, where this forms part of the agreed assignment instructions. Officers can manage contractor and visitor sign-in, check identification, verify deliveries, record vehicle movements and manage authorised out-of-hours access — supporting your site management procedures rather than replacing them.
Can security officers patrol the construction site?
Yes. Patrol requirements are set from the layout and identified risks of your site — perimeter, compounds, storage areas, welfare facilities and vulnerable access points — and observations are escalated in line with the agreed procedure.
Can you provide overnight security?
Yes. Overnight cover is the most common requirement for construction sites, because most theft and intrusion happens outside working hours when the site is empty.
Do you cover London and the surrounding areas?
We operate across London and the Home Counties, with the capacity to deploy briefed officers at short notice throughout the South East.
Can security provision change during the construction project?
Yes — and it usually should. A site approaching completion carries very different risks from the same development during demolition or groundwork. We review the provision as the project moves through its phases and adjust cover accordingly.
